Books to read this Spetember (2021) |HonestlySpeakingonBooks

Books I want to read this September

There are so many great books that I’ve discovered this year! From classical adventures to historical romances (I don’t read contemporary), the list of books I’d love to read keeps growing and GROWING!

And although the complete list would take ages to put together, I’ve gathered a few that I hope I’ll be able to read and review some time this month!

This is my TBR list of books for September 2021!

1. A Portrait of Loyalty by Roseanna M. White

I’ve already read the other two books in The Codebreakers series by White, and I can’t wait to finally complete it!

Lily Blackwell is a character who has been introduced in the second book On Wings of Devotion and I’m sure her story will be just as amazing as the others. Another character that we met in the previous book was Zivon Marin, a Russian cryptographer who is surrounded by mystery.

Looking forward to their romance and another great story!

2. The Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis

If you are at all familiar with Christian fiction, you probably have heard about this creation. C. S. Lewis has always been my favorite author with The Chronicles of Narnia reigning forever in my love for books.

The Screwtape Letters are a collection of letters from a Srewtape, a devil, to his nephew, Wormwood. I’ve never read anything written from such a perspective but I’m happily anticipating a new experience.

 3. With Every Breath by Elizabeth Camden

Elizabeth Camden’s books have always tempted me, the covers are lovely and the stories sound so good! I’ve never read ANY of them yet but maybe this month I’ll be able to take a look into With Every Breath.

The story is about Kate Livingstone, a government worker and Trevor McDonough, a physician.

Evidently, neither of them cares even the slightest bit for other but the two end up together in a search to find a cure for tuberculosis.

I have high hopes for this book!

5. The Doctor’s Lady by Jody Hedlund

Jody Hedlund has written many captivating novels, stand-alone and series, and I especially loved the An Uncertain Choice series. Therefore, I think I have reason enough to have confidence that this will be an interesting story.

The Doctor’s Lady is about Priscilla White, a lady who doesn’t believe that she is called to be either a wife or a mother. God seems to be calling her to the mission field in India. But suddenly, the mission board announces that only married couples will be sent. She meets Dr. Eli Ernest, a missionary who had returned for a season, spreading awareness about the natives in the land. He, too, is searching for a new way to pursue his ministry. They both come to an agreement: a platonic marriage.

Sounds exciting!

6. The Healer’s Apprentice by Melanie Dickerson

I’ve already read The Hagenheim
series, a collection of YA fairytale retellings but I needed to read them again and refresh the beautiful memories that I had created there.

Rose strives to keep her position as a healer’s apprentice, if she fails she’ll have to go back to her home where her mother has arranged a marriage with an aged merchant who disgusts her.

The future duke, Lord Hamlin, is injured and who could it be but Rose to care for him? Slowly, the two begin to fall in love....BUT that is forbidden because Hamlin is betrothed to an unknown maiden who has yet to come out of hiding.

It’s thrilling to think of reading this again, I can’t wait!

7. The Princess Companion by Melanie Cellier

Another book from a series that I’ve already read before. And another fairytale retelling. (A couple of years ago I was really into these types of novels and I decided to return to my old love for them.)

Alyssa is lost in a forest, during a dark and stormy night.

DUN, DUN, DUN....DUNNNNN.

She knocks on the door of a castle, searching for refuge and is swept up into the arms of royalty and finds herself given the position of Princess Companion.

I will admit that although I don’t remember too much of the plot, it was a very simple read. Not too deep or brilliant, but still very sweet and lovely.

All of these novels sound so intriguing and I'll be pouncing on any opportunity to read them!
